Max Cavender of Milwaukee LBC has been making some noise early in the lawn bowling season with two strong finishes at the Southwest Open in Santa Anita, CA. In pairs Cavender teamed up with Lyall Adams of Canada to beat 46 other teams to claim the top prize in the championship flight. In the singles event, Cavender finished first in the 2nd flight against a tough field of 62 competitors. Earlier this year, Cavender placed T-5th in singles at the World Junior Championships in Australia.
Central Divsion bowlers, Bob Schneider and Rob Behncke, took first place in the 4th flight in pairs. Behncke went on to place 1st in the 6th flight singles while Schneider made a run in the 3rd flight singles before bowing out.
